Festive Family Arts Event
“A Night With Emily Carr” hosted by Sooke Harbour House and the Arts Council on Nov. 7, 2017 saw over forty attendees. Molly Raher Newman, who takes on the persona of Carr, sang and played the mandolin. She talked about her commemorative train trip across Canada to Ottawa where she presented a card. The card was a large painting of a tree with individual leaves painted with text from members of the public. The train trip took the same route as Emily Carr took in 1927 when her career was launched with an exhibit at the National Gallery and the meeting of the “Group of 7”.
